The flag of Swaziland (now Eswatini) consists of three horizontal stripes of equal width. The top and bottom stripes are blue, while the middle stripe is red. On the left side of the flag (i.e., the hoist side), there is a large black and white shield, which is also present on the national coat of arms. The shield is supported by two spears, symbolizing the country’s warrior tradition. The shield contains a number of symbols, including a staff, feathers, a staff decorated with feathers, and an indlu (traditional Swazi hut).
