The country flag of Ethiopia comprises three equal horizontal bands of green, yellow, and red, with the national emblem centered in the middle stripe. Green embodies the land and hope. Yellow signifies peace, and red represents strength, courage, and sacrifices made for the nation’s defense.

At the flag’s center lies a yellow pentagram. It symbolizes unity and equality among Ethiopia’s diverse ethnic and religious communities.  Blue rays encircle the pentagram, symbolizing prosperity. Adopted in 1996, Ethiopia’s flag reflects its rich history, values, and aspirations for a peaceful future. The flag serves as a proud symbol of the Ethiopian people’s enduring unity amidst diversity.
