The flag of Uganda features six horizontal stripes of black, yellow, and red colors of equal width. The flag positions the black stripe at the top and bottom, places the yellow stripe in the middle, and situates the red stripes between them. In the center of the yellow stripe lies the national emblem. It consists of a grey-crowned crane, a symbol of the country’s wildlife and uniqueness. The flag depicts the Crested Crane standing on a shield and spears. The shield and spears represent the country’s readiness to defend its interests. They also symbolize the willingness of its people to work for prosperity. The flag embodies Uganda’s aspirations for unity, peace, and national progress.
